This two-hour webinar was recorded on September 10, 2014.

In this two-hour class, students will explore authorities in RDA (Resource Description and Access) and FRAD (Functional Requirements for Authority Data). New MARC fields defined are demonstrated, major changes in cataloging practices will be examined and compared with the previous standard, AACR2.

Handouts with readings, resources, and exercises will be provided for participants to complete on their own.

After this class, you will be able to:

  • Identify an RDA record and RDA authority record
  • Recognize major changes in cataloging practice for authorities between AACR2 and RDA
  • Construct a simple authorized access point for names and series
