The main purpose of this webinar series is to review step-by-step design procedures and design aids that make designing and detailing reinforced concrete members simpler and faster. The requirements of the 2014 edition of Building Code Requirements for Structural Concrete are presented in a straightforward manner with emphasis placed on the proper application of the provisions in everyday practice. Although the primary focus is on low-rise buildings, much of the content can be used in the design of buildings of any size.

This webinar presents general guidelines on how to achieve overall economy in low-rise reinforced concrete buildings and provides information on how to select an economic floor system. Also presented are simplified analysis methods for low-rise buildings, including how to locate the center of rigidity and how to distribute horizontal forces to the elements of the lateral-force-resisting system.
