The first federal building to incorporate security and blast design guidelines in an unfortress-like structure. On April 19, 1995, the Murrah Federal Office Building in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma was destroyed after a deadly, high-powered truck bomb exploded. The bombing instigated a mindset about building collapse that led to the first federal guidelines for structural design that prevents “progressive collapse.”
