Messy data happens as a result of changing standards, migrations/harvests of data, vendor purchased records, automated data created from content or by the system, and even human error. So, what can we do about it? What software and tools are out there for use to cleanup data? In this 2 hour session, we will explore a variety of tools to cleanup data - from Microsoft Excel to MARCEdit to OpenRefine to specific projects to convert data. We'll talk about best practices for data cleanup, how to plan for a migration, batch editing, and more!  Topics: OpenRefine, MARCEdit, Excel, CSV, MARC Mapping Tools, Best practices.
