Professor Martin will be speaking on some of his research on law and courts, how analytics are used by courts (and how lawyers can better communicate with experts), and about the analytical work being done at WashU Law to help our students.

Andrew D. Martin, Ph.D.

Washington University School of Law

 

Andrew D. Martin is the Charles Nagel Chair of Constitutional Law and Political Science at the Washington University School of Law. He currently serves Vice Dean of the School of Law and the Founding Director of theCenter for Empirical Research in the Law. He is also Professor of Political Science in Arts & Sciences. Professor Martin has been on the Washington University faculty since 2000. He is a principal of the analytics consultancy Principia Empirica LLC.  

 

Professor Martin's expertise is in the study of judicial decisionmaking, with special emphasis on the Supreme Court and the lower federal courts. He also works extensively in the field of political methodology and applied statistics. He has published in a number of prominent law reviews and leading social science and applied statistics journals, including the American Political Science Review, the American Journal of Political Science, Political Analysis, the Journal of Legal Studies, and Statistical Science. Professor Martin is a frequent presenter at conferences and workshops throughout the country. His research has been supported by the National Science Foundation, the MacArthur Foundation, and the National Institutes of Health. He has been the principal investigator on eight grants from the National Science Foundation. Professor Martin was elected as a Fellow of the Society for Political Methodology in 2012.

CONTINUING EDUCATION INFORMATION

AAA-CPA  continuing education programs are designed to meet the needs of Attorneys and CPAs and to qualify for credit both as CPE and CLE. Of course, the decisions of various state authorities determine the actual credit granted. There are no prerequisites or advance preparation requirements for this course.

Accounting CPE/Legal CLE/MCLE

The American Association of Attorney-CPAsis registered with the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) as a sponsor of continuing professional education on the National Registry of CPE Sponsors. State boards of accountancy have final authority on the acceptance of individual courses for CPE credit. Complaints regarding registered sponsors may be submitted to the National Registry of CPE Sponsors through its website www.learningmarket.org. A brochure with full details of the program is available from the association at 888-288-9272. These programs meet the NASBA standards of 1 (50 minute) hour of instruction.  If you require CLE in a state not mentioned, please call our national office and we will do our best to arrange for credit in your state.
