The Working Together program continues to promote the positive ongoing relationship between the tax practitioner community and the Internal Revenue Service. The annual meeting, open to both IRS employees and the practitioner community, has become a “mark your calendar” event for many New Jersey tax professionals. The intent is to engage in ongoing, meaningful dialogue aimed at improving our dealings with one another, thereby improving service to our common customer – the taxpayer public.

This year the program will concentrate on “The Anatomy of a Tax Audit”.  It will consist of practitioners and IRS personnel going through the steps involved in an IRS exam, showing both sides of the process.

 

We expect that it will shed light on the process, and will allow practitioners to feel more comfortable working with the IRS in an audit situation.

responsibilities.

9:30 Collection: Practitioners & IRS to discuss the payment options and other avenues open to taxpayers & the practitioner responsibilities.

10:30 Morning Break

10:45 Keynote Speaker: Return Preparer Office

12:00 Lunch (included in registration fee)

1:00 Keynote Speaker: John Manhire, Office of Professional Responsibility

2:15 Appeals: Practitioners & IRS to discuss the Appeals process and what the practitioner and taxpayer can expect.

3:15 Afternoon Break

3:30 Criminal Investigations Update

4:30 Hot Issue Alerts: Current updates on tax law changes for 2012/2013 and other relevant topics.

5:00 Adjournment
