Session Type: Main Podium

Description

AGD Subject Code 610

Fixed implant prosthodontics procedures are generally considered as a superior form of treatment plan when it comes to replacement of missing teeth and or hard and soft tissues.  There is also general public feeling that wearing removable prosthesis is a social stigma and it is very difficult to get adjusted.  So in the zeal to satisfy patient’s needs and demands we provide fixed options to patients.  A couple of decades ago, fixed prosthesis on natural teeth were considered the gold standard and now implant supported fixed prosthesis has become the new standard.

This presentation will elaborate the various types of failures that one can encounter and how to recognize these early on to avoid a catastrophic, irreversible situation.  Steps to avoid such failures will also be illustrated.  With appropriate recare appointments and an over-engineered approach one can predictably increase the survival of fixed implant restorations.
