Session Type: Main Podium
Track: AGD Subject Code 691

Description
There are several surgical techniques to growing bone, vertically and horizontally, each one having its own place in the surgical spectrum. The ridge splitting approach is very useful when there is sufficient height but not enough width of bone. One main advantage is that it preserves the buccal and lingual plate, while protecting the medullary grafted bone and blood supply in the middle of the two plates. This session will demonstrate the surgical technique for full arch and shorter spans, as well as the advantages, pitfalls and limitations of ridge splitting.

Learning Objectives: Upon completion of this course, participants should be able to:
1. Describe the surgical technique for full arch and shorter spans
2. Identify the advantages, pitfalls and limitations of ridge splitting
