Post extraction ridge collapse and loss of attached gingiva is inevitable. Maintenance of buccal contour has beneficial effects from an esthetic perspective as well as minimizing the potential of food impaction into a buccal concavity at the implant site. The Vascularized Buccal Inversion Flap ( VBIF ) is a simple technique for correction of buccal defects while avoiding many common shortcomings of traditional augmentation techniques. It will consistently enhance the aesthetic and clinical outcome around implant sites.
