Description
Bone regeneration techniques in implant dentistry include the use of many materials, both biologic and synthetic. For many, the gold standard for bone grafting remains the use of autogenous bone to stimulate new bone growth through osteoinduction. However, bone regeneration has been shown to be successful using allografts, xenografts, and synthetics. This seminar will review and evaluate the use of the most common materials, with a special focus on allografts. The success of allografts to regenerate bone in extraction site defects, sinus augmentations has been shown to be clinically successful. As a result, successful implant placement in bone-regenerated sites with allograft has become standard of care for the modern clinician. The main focus of this lecture and hands-on session will be clinical review of many cases ranging from simple to complex. Hands-on participants will have the opportunity to perform sinus graft technique via a lateral and crestal approach. The result will be helpful in developing a flow chart for clinical utilization of the grafting techniques outlined.

Learning Objectives: Attendees can expect to learn the following from this presentation:
1. Hard tissue graft options
2. Techniques for regeneration of single and multiple site defects
3. Identification and treatment planning techniques for horizontal and vertical defects using allografts
