Description

Presented through a grant from Bicon Dental Implants, Gold Sponsor

The use of glass-reinforced resin bars as a substitute for metal has revolutionized fixed implant-supported reconstructions. Using CAD/CAM technology, these bars are prepared to accurately fit custom abutments. Composite/denture teeth are then chemomechanically bonded to the bar. The bar/teeth complex is then cemented definitively unto custom abutments. The resulting fixed restoration can be repaired and retrieved after cementation. If an implant needs to be replaced, the bar may also be relined, which is particularly important when only four or five implants are used as anchorage. This lecture will introduce this technique and present maxillary and mandibular cases supported with four to six implants.
