W20: Short and Ultrashort Implants with a Bone-Loading Platform Switch
(Event: 63rd AAID Annual Meeting 2014)

Nov 08, 2014 8:00am - Nov 08, 2014 11:59am
Session Type: Workshop
Track: AGD Subject Code 698

Description
Surgical dental implant procedures are often complicated by anatomical limits – close sinus proximity or limited mandibular bone height above the inferior alveolar nerve. This workshop will discuss current research, as well as the use of short and ultrashort implants in clinical cases where there is limited bone height.

Learning Objectives: Attendees can expect to learn the following from this presentation:
1. Restoration of cases with limited bone height (3 mm or less) in posterior maxilla with the use of a sinus lift abutment and restoration of atrophic mandibles with 5 mm long implants
2. Increased crown-to-implant ratio, factors associated with bone gain, use of NSAIDs for bone regeneration, survival, indications and contraindications of ultrashort implants
3. How to restore short and ultrashort implants with cementless single implant restorations and learn about a metal-free CAD/CAM technique for the four-on-short concept
