The acceptance of dental implant therapy over the past several decades has led to improved patient outcomes and quality of life that would otherwise not be possible. Not unexpectedly, a proportion of implants have been found to be affected by peri-implantitis. Practitioners today are more likely to be encounter this frustrating complication both in long-term patients as well as in patients with recently-placed implants.
