Event Description

AED’s annual Ottawa Briefing has become a major event for equipment industry leaders wanting to learn more about how government programs affect equipment demand and dealer costs of doing business. The meeting is also an opportunity to build relationships with government officials and influence federal policy.

The 2016 Ottawa Briefing event will take place on October 26 - 27. As it was last year, the host hotel is the historic Fairmont Chateau Laurier, located a few steps from Parliament Hill. The focus of this year’s meeting is engagement with government.

The Briefing will begin with an evening reception Wednesday Oct. 26 with Members of Parliament and leaders of the Ottawa policy community in the Speaker’s Lounge located in the Centre Block on Parliament Hill.

Thursday Oct.27 will kick off with an intro briefing at the hotel by AED staff and experts from Bluesky Strategy Group, AED’s Canadian public policy consultants. Dealers will then head to Parliament Hill for meetings with senior government officials to talk about transportation with respect to electronic logging, infrastructure, and tax policy, lunch in the Parliamentary Dining Room, and a visit to Question Period to get a first-hand look at the workings of government. The AED group will also sit in on Question Period to get a first-hand look at the workings of government. The day will finish off with a tour of Parliament, the beautiful and historic Centre Block, home to the House of Commons, Library, and Senate.
