Building Science for Building Designers, by Dadla Ponizil

Building Designers awareness of home performance and how that can influence the design of a home or retrofit of a home. Introduction the the California Energy Upgrade program. Home performance is inspected, measured, and analyzed on existing homes by trained Energy Upgrade contractors who can collaborate on the design with Building Designers with a combined focus.  On new homes, a collaboration can work towards the strategy of a home. The benefits are a less expensive home to heat and cool, more comfortable home, more durability to the home, and add quality to the homeowners lives. The outcome is quality construction and common sense. This session is geared more towards existing home remodeling, with points that can be used in new construction.

How can a Building Designer take measures to protect oneself from green rating promises? What is the industry standard for green building? What are current claims on green building?

BIM using Archicad in Remodeling and New Construction, byJohn Magnan

In this session we will show how to use Building Information Modeling (BIM) using ArchiCAD in remodeling and new construction.  This will include how a collaborative and coordinated environment makes for more efficient building design and construction so you can focus on design.  We will also discuss how to engage your engineers earlier in the process and in real time on single file-so no more swapping files back and forth and no old information-ever.  This will be intensive and fun as we share with you the cutting edge in design software that is fun and easy to use.

AIBD Professional members and NCBDC certified designers will receive 1.0 CE unit for each 1-hour of attendance.
