Review of the Controversial Federal Government Proposals to Restrict Private Company Tax Planning
Bruce Ball, CPA, CA of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada is joining our Second Thursday Network and Learn event on October 12.
Bruce will provide perspective on the controversial proposals introduced by the Federal government related to taxation of Private corporations. The discussion will focus on a non-technical review of some of the proposals since the last Canadian Tax Reform in the early 70's.
These proposals are controversial because of the provocative nature in which they were introduced, the significant complexity they will create, and the lack of sufficient grandfather and transition periods in many cases.
Bruce will review CPA Canada's submission to the government and his thoughts on what might be expected from the government in response to the significant uproar the proposals have created.
Bruce Ball, CPA, CA is national tax partner for BDO Canada LLP, and the head of the firm's National Tax Department. He has over 20 years of experience providing tax advice to entrepreneurial businesses. Bruce is the co-chair of the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) - Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada Service Committee.
