DGSA
Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor Course and Exam
A DGSA, Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor, monitors a company's compliance with the rules governing the transport of dangerous goods. A DGSA also prepares an annual report on the company's compliance programs and reports on any accident that occurs during the loading, carriage or unloading of dangerous goods that affects the health or safety of any person or causes damage to the environment or property.
DGAC has arranged for the British DGSA exam to be administered by the Scottish Qualification Authority. Candidates who pass the exam will be given a Vocational Training Certificate and be certified as a Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor. This course and successful completion of the exam can also be used to re-certify DGSAs who need to renew their expiring certifications, such as those students trained by DGAC in 2015.
While there are no formal prerequisites for this course, it is important that each student have a thorough understanding of the UN regulatory structure and its provisions for classification, packaging and hazard communication. Students who have successfully completed at least one of DGAC's hazardous materials training courses will have the best chance of succeeding at this difficult certification.
