Program Topic Sustainable Lighting and Crime PreventionThis presentation examines issues related to security and how proper lighting can help provide a safer environment and reduce crime. Using the most efficient lighting technology in proper lighting designs can make security lighting more sustainable and still meet outdoor lighting ordinances and energy codes. The presentation also considers the Model Lighting Ordinance and the new BUG ratings. Examples of good and not so good security lighting applications are presented. And finally, resources that can help with security lighting design are offered.
PresenterJeff Kramer, LCSpecification Sales Manager, Philips Lighting Sources & ElectronicsJeff is a Specification Sales Manager for Philips Lighting Sources and Electronics and has been with Philips since January 2008. In his current role, he consults with lighting designers, electrical engineers, and architects, assisting in the design and specification of modern, high-efficiency lighting systems for large industrial and commercial construction projects. Jeff is an active member of the Illuminating Engineering Society for over 17 years. He has been in the lighting industry for over 26 years. He has taught lighting education classes for his local IES section and does lighting training for Philips. He received his Lighting Certification (LC) from the National Council on Qualifications for the Lighting Professions (NCQLP) in 2005.
