This program will be held at Mayer Brown LLP, 1999 K Street, NW.The sale of SpectrumCo spectrum to Verizon and the contemporaneous commercial agreements presented significant and in many cases novel issues with respect to both substance and procedure. Representatives from the FCC, DOJ, Verizon, Comcast, Sprint, and Public Knowledge who participated in the agencies' reviews will discuss the process, the issues, and the implications for the future.AGENDA6:00 – 6:05 p.m. Welcome and Introductions6:05 – 7:00 p.m. The Perspectives of the PartiesRepresentatives of Verizon and Comcast will describe the purpose of the transactions, their anticipated benefits, and the processing issues they anticipated at the FCC and DOJ. Representatives from Sprint and Public Knowledge will then review concerns that they and others raised about the transactions, the conditions they sought to impose, and comment on various procedural issues raised by the transactions.7:00 – 7:10 p.m. Break7:10 – 8:15 p.m. Agency Responses, Comments by the Parties, QuestionsThose who worked on the transaction at the FCC and the Department of Justice will explain how the two agencies addressed the issues raised by the parties and coordinated their consideration and responses. The panelists representing the parties to the transaction and the opponents will have an opportunity to comment on the agency responses. The moderator will then lead the speakers in a discussion the issues raised, including questions from the audience. The focus will be on lessons learned and tips for those anticipating review of major transactions in the future.
