Event Description

Monday, June 16, 6:00 – 9:30 p.m.

Broadcast Spectrum Incentive and Forward Auctions: Understanding the World's Most Groundbreaking Spectrum Auctions

The FCBA Wireless Telecommunications, Mass Media, and Engineering & Technical Committees will jointly present an inaugural CLE on Monday, June 16 from 6:00 – 9:30 p.m. entitled “Broadcast Spectrum Incentive and Forward Auctions: Understanding the World's Most Groundbreaking Spectrum Auctions.”  This program will be held at Mayer Brown LLP, 1999 K Street, NW.

This CLE, undoubtedly the first of many, will explore the views of government and private sector leaders on the legal, policy, and implementation questions surrounding the FCC’s most significant spectrum auctions in history.  Following the direction of Congress in the Middle Class Tax Relief and Job Creation Act of 2012, the FCC will conduct a voluntary, multi-part auction to repurpose spectrum by encouraging broadcast licensees to voluntarily relinquish spectrum usage rights in exchange for a share of the proceeds from an auction of new wireless broadband licenses.  This CLE will be an early opportunity for FCBA members to learn about the rules adopted by the Commission on May 15, 2014, to begin to analyze the import of the new rules, and to identify and discuss outstanding issues.

Registrations and cancellations due by 12:00 Noon, Friday, June 13, 2014.
