Event Description

Skill Building Workshop co-hosted by EPIP LA and PEAK Grantmaking

According to Forbes, the relationship with your boss is the “primary ingredient in job satisfaction.” With different personality types and approaches to projects, the burden is often on you to effectively communicate your work and your worth. Regardless of who your direct supervisor is, there are some practical skills and strategies that can help.

Join us for an interactive discussion on how to effectively manage up and across in your current role. During this session, we’ll go over how to:

  • Initiate solutions
  • Demonstrate your usefulness and get credit
  • Communicate with managers

This session will also explore the ways in which our racial identities affect the experiences of managing up and being managed, and will include affinity group breakouts for deeper discussion.

Location:
Community Partners, The California Endowment Building
1000 N Alameda St
Suite C, Second Floor
Los Angeles, CA 90012

Speaker:
Cynthia Freeman
is a senior program director at Community Partners, where she helps people start and run nonprofit and social change organizations and manages programs for grantmakers and government agencies. Prior to joining Community Partners in 2006, she worked in social change philanthropy and community organizing in New York and Boston.
