ADDITIONAL WORKSHOP DETAILS:

This highly interactive class is structured to foster competence and confidence when assigning ICD-10-CM codes.  It is MANDATORY to bring an ICD-10-CM Coding Manual to fully participate in the class and complete application exercises that reinforce the concepts covered in the workshop.

If you are relatively new to coding or not familiar with the ICD-10-CM Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting for 2017, it is highly recommended that you review pages 8 – 18 of the document found at: http://www.cdc.gov/nchs/data/icd/10cmguidelines_2017_final.pdf prior to the workshop.  These pages describe and define the foundational concepts of Coding Conventions (Section I.A) & General Coding Guidelines (Section I.B) that will facilitate your understanding of concepts to be covered in class.  While we will touch on this material and these terms will be used throughout the workshop, they will not be covered extensively in class. Your pre-class efforts will greatly enhance your learning experience.

Special emphasis on how to use source documents will assist coders in knowing where to look for guidance when coding in their agencies.

The most current version of ICD-10-CM coding manual is available from OASIS Answers at this link: www.oasisanswers.com/products or by calling 425-868-2304.
