IPTA's membership is committed to providing quality, accessible transportation in Illinois. The Association serves as a resource for its members by:
- providing forums to discuss day-to-day operating issues,
- identifying common problems and solutions,
- providing insight into future trends in the industry,
- providing training in all aspects of management and leadership, and
- facilitating the individual attainment of professionalism through a number of programs such as Leadership APT A and the Certified Community Transit Manager's designation.
Advocacy is an important part of IPTA's work. IPTA keeps its members apprised of state and federal legislative issues and provides advocacy on behalf of the membership. The Association maintains close ties with the Illinois Rural Transit Assistance Center (RTAC) and the Illinois Department of Transportation, to update members on funding, reporting and industry issues. Two conferences are held each year, and active involvement in the organization is encouraged. The Association recognizes "Legislators of the Year" with awards at the annual fall conference.
IPTA invites you to join under the Regular Member category as a provider of accessible services or under the Associate Member (non-provider) category.
