ARTICLE IV - DUES

Section 1 - Regular Membership Dues

The annual dues shall be as follows:

The annual dues for regular members shall be fifty ($50) dollars per member for one year.

Section 2 - Associate Membership

  1. Any person employed by the municipality not entitled to Regular Membership shall be eligible for Associate Membership. The dues will be the same as a regular member as provided in Article IV, Section 1 of the MAAO By-Laws.
  2. For any person employed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts or the United States Government and whose work is concerned with tax assessment laws, the dues will be $50 per member.[1]
  3. Any person who has retired from a position as described in Section 1, Regular Membership of these by-laws shall be eligible for Associate Membership.  The dues will be $25 annually.
  4. A person appointed as an Assistant Assessor in name only, who does not hold any office or responsibility for that position shall be eligible for Associate Membership.  The dues will be the same as a regular member as provided in Article IV, Section 1 of the MAAO By-Laws.
  5. Any person who is an Assessor in a state other than Massachusetts shall be eligible for Associate Membership.  The dues will be $50 per year per member.
  6. Any person who has terminated his/her official position or employment with a municipality or other governmental agency and who has been a Regular Member or Associate Member, and who is not employed in manner related to assessment administration as a consultant, appraiser, or other capacity with real estate taxes which would otherwise qualify him/her for Subscribing Membership, shall be eligible for Associate Membership.  The dues will be $50 dollars annually.

Section 3 - Subscribing Membership

The annual dues of Subscribing Members shall be $320.00 for the Primary member of a business firm or person, and $50.00 for each additional person associated with the Primary Subscribing Member.

Section 4 – Honorary Membership Dues

For honorary members no dues shall be charged. 

 

[1] The Commissioner of Revenue, the Senior Deputy Commissioner of the Division of Local Services, and the Chiefs of the Bureau of Local Assessment, the Bureau of Accounts, and the Municipal Finance Law Bureau shall not pay dues.
