Seminar Description: *Special Afternoon Session Added*
As part of the “Affordable Care Act” federally funded long term care (LTC) facilities must report any reasonable suspicion of crimes committed against a resident of that facility. For purposes of this new law “The Elder Justice Act”, LTC facilities include:
Nursing Facilities (NFs) and Skilled Nursing Facilities (SNFs),
Hospices that provide services in LTC facilities, and
Intermediate Care Facilities for the Mentally Retarded (ICFs/MR).
Reports must be submitted to at least one law enforcement agency of jurisdiction and the State Survey Agency, and LTC facilities must have policies and procedures to comply with this law.
Do you know and understand your obligations and responsibilities? Have you contacted your local law enforcement agency? Has your staff been trained?
Get answers to these questions and more by attending this seminar.
This program is of particular importance to Administrators, Director of Nurses, Front-line Managers, Risk Managers, Quality Assurance staff.
At the conclusion of this program participants will:
Learn the background of the Elder Justice Act;
Understand the facilities’ responsibilities for complying with the law;
Understand the requirements for reporting; and
Understand the State Survey Agency’s responsibility for assuring facility compliance.
