REPEAT SESSION

Guide for Surviving the Future of Long Term Care: Proactive Planning for Section GG Implementation…and More!

Tuesday, July 19, 2016
Mass Senior Care Office, Waltham
9:00 a.m.— 3:30 p.m.
(Registration at 8:30 a.m.)

The Affordable Care Act (ACA), the IMPACT Act, SNF Value Based Purchasing (VBP), the Proposed Rule for Medicare and Medicaid and the SNF Quality Reporting Program all require changes to the Minimum Data Set (MDS 3.0) effective October 1, 2016.  These changes include the addition of a SNF Medicare Part A PPS discharge assessment when a Medicare Part A stay ends and the addition of Section GG to capture functional status items from the Continuity Assessment and Evaluation (CARE) item set.

Now more than ever, your interdisciplinary team must work together to meet the CMS Quality Initiative and have a clear understanding of these changes to ensure success.  The speaker will assist facilities in negotiating through these changes.  In addition to regulatory and reimbursement details, this seminar will provide your interdisciplinary team with valuable strategies to proactively develop policies and procedures to become a higher quality facility.

This program will be of particular interest to Administrators, Nursing Management, Social Workers and Rehabilitation Staff.

Objectives

At the end of the course you will be able to:

  • Identify the MDS Item Sets which require completion of Section GG, and clarify the intent of this section;
  • Describe the 6 point rating scaling and the activity not attempted codes for Section GG;
  • Describe the Quality Measure related to Section GG data; and,
  • Identify the major changes to the overall Five-Star Rating System.
