The Conference Objectives

  • To enhance a clinician’s or outpatient provider’s understanding of what occurs in the NICU
  • To provide clinicians with an overview of NICU outcomes: mental health of caregivers, attachment issues, physical, developmental and nutritional needs of the NICU graduate
  • To strengthen the provider’s ability to diagnose, treat and refer NICU graduates and their families

The Boston Institute for the Development of Infants and Parents (BIDIP) is a multidisciplinary, professional organization established in 1973 to study the dynamic interaction of the psychological, biological, social and cognitive systems of the infant and those within the infant-parent relationship. BIDIP is part of the Massachusetts School of Professional Psychology and affiliated with the Eliot-Pearson Department of Child Development, Tufts University, The New England Council for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and the Human Relations Service.

The Richard I. and Joan L. Freedman Center for Child & Family Development was established at MSPP to support and train parents, educators and mental health professionals to best serve the needs of families.
