Joan Klagsbrun, PhD and Ronald Siegel, PsyD, instructors
This
workshop presents the theories and practices of Focusing and Mindfulness and
demonstrates the application of these complementary methods in psychotherapy
and in the self-care of therapists. Focusing is an evidenced method that
attends to inner experience such that meanings can be discovered and carried
forward. Mindfulness is an empirically-validated approach to treatment that can
augment virtually any form of counseling. This workshop is appropriate both for
clinicians not yet familiar with either of these therapeutic practices as well
as for those already experienced with Focusing and/or Mindfulness.
Upon completion of the program the student will be able to:
- Explain the theory underpinning the practices of Focusing and Mindfulness
- Demonstrate the skills necessary to practice and guide others through these processes
- Demonstrate how Focusing and Mindfulness can be integrated into psychotherapy
- Utilize these skills for therapist self-care
