Positive Psychology and the Cultivation of Strengths

Positive Psychology is the scientific study of what makes life most worth living, by emphasizing the positive emotions that emerge from character strengths that contribute to human flourishing. This webinar provides an introduction to positive psychology, and the cultivation of qualities that strengthen ones capacity for well-being, and discusses the application in clinical, coaching, and organizational contexts. The application of positive psychology and strength-based practice transcends disciplines, shifting attention from deficits to the cultivation of strengths and resources. Join with other mental health, teaching and organizational development professionals in this webinar that brings together positive psychology, appreciative inquiry, and the cultivation of strengths.

David Haddad, EdD, is Core Faculty at William James College in Newton, MA, where he directs the Community Mental Health Initiative. In addition he is a founding partner in Appreciative Action, a consultation practice that strengthens the capacity of organizations dedicated to creating a healthier and more civil world community. Over the years, Dr. Haddad has presented his work at national and international conferences, and most recently discussing his work in East Africa, applying positive psychology and the cultivation of strengths in his work with communities.
