FIELD SUPERVISION INSTITUTE 2017

Caring for Oneself and Others: Self-Care & Social Skills

The theme for the 10th annual Field Supervision Institute is “Caring for Oneself and Others: Self-Care & Social Skills.”  Session topics will address principles and practices for supporting the wellness and self-care needs of school psychology field supervisors and trainees, and enhancing their capacity to support the social skills and social-emotional learning of K-12 students.  A session on ethics and professional practice will help participants address related dilemmas they face in the field. 

Specific learning objectives - By attending this program participants will:

  • Increase their ability to integrate self-care techniques into the supervision process so as to promote the well-being of supervisees.

  • Increase their knowledge and skills in dealing with ethical issues involving field supervision and expansion of service delivery.

  • Identify opportunities for trainees to gather experience in designing, planning, and implementing school-wide, small group and individualized mental and behavioral health services
  • Be able to articulate areas of opportunity for school psychologists under ESSA that relate to social-emotional learning.
  • Increase their understanding of professional development stages in supervising school psychology trainees in the field.

  • Develop strategies to support goal setting and professional development of trainees.
