Keeping with our commitment to support social justice, confront systemic racism, and advance equity in gifted education, NAGC is proud to host the first National Symposium on Equity for Black and Brown Gifted Children August 10-12, 2021.

The 3-day virtual Symposium program, developed by the Planning Committee members Dr. Dina Brulles,
Dr. Jaime A Castellano, Dr. Donna Y. Ford, Dr. Tarek Grantham, and the NAGC Diversity Committee, will feature:

  • Prominent thought leaders advocating for racial equity in education. 
  • Strategies to identify, support, and serve gifted and talented African-American and Hispanic/Latino students.
  • Information on the social and emotional needs of gifted and talented African-American and Hispanic/Latino students.
  • Tips on building a school and district infrastructure that supports programs and services for gifted and talented African-American and Hispanic/Latino students.
  • Actions for changing minds, changing policies, and changing practices that will align with NAGC’s commitment to anti-racism and will result in equity.
  • And, much more! 

The Symposium will provide measurable outcomes all designed for gifted and talented school administrators, teachers, students and families, district and state directors, coordinators, and supervisors.
