The Heroism Award is intended to recognize appropriate acts of heroism demonstrated in the school transportation industry. Those eligible for nomination include any person who is either directly or indirectly involved with saving a life or lives.

The life saving action must:

  • Have been performed by a person directly involved in the school transportation industry;

    **OR**

  • If not performed by a person directly involved in the school transportation industry, the action must directly affect the school transportation operation/program.

  • Guidelines for Nomination

  • Acts of heroism for each award year will be based on heroic actions performed any time during the three (3) preceding calendar years.

    Selection criteria includes:

  • Threat to one's own life
  • Number of lives saved
  • Impact on school transportation industry
  • Impact on individual's operation/program
  • Award Description

  • All expenses paid to the NAPT Annual Conference & Trade Show and a commemorative plaque.
  • Notification

  • Notification is by the Chair of the NAPT Awards Committee no later than October 1st.

    Nominations/Application Requirements: Nominations must be:

  • Submitted by an NAPT member;
  • Endorsed by a minimum of 2 colleagues;
  • Postmarked no later than September 15th
  • Applications for all awards must be submitted by an NAPT member, be postmarked no later than September 15th and mailed to:

    Applications/nominations will be accepted after January 1st and ending September 15th

      Overview

      The National Association for Pupil Transportation (NAPT), together with supporting sponsors, is proud to offer an annual awards program to individuals and operators responsible for the safe transport of school children. What follows is a brief description of the awards that are presented at the Annual Conference each year.
