Latest on Therapy Caps

NASL, 9/25/2017

NASL and members of the Therapy Cap Coalition met with staff from the three committees of jurisdiction – the House Energy & Commerce, House Ways & Means and Senate Finance – who are working together to produce therapy cap language, which could be included in legislation considered later this year. The Therapy Cap Coalition has provided the committee staff draft language that would repeal the cap.

As of September 18, NASL has not yet received word on a CBO score regarding the Medicare Access to Rehabilitation Services Act of 2017 (H.R.807, S.253). This important, bipartisan legislation seeks full repeal of the Part B therapy caps for Medicare patients before the current exceptions process expires in December 2017.

The Therapy Cap Coalition has been active on The Hill for the past several weeks, setting up meetings with Congressional staff to discuss H.R. 807 and gain additional Congressional support. NASL staffer, Michael Barnett, and other members of the Coalition visited with staff from the offices of Representatives Gus Bilirakis (R-FL), Jody Arrington (R-TX) and Larry Bucshon (R-IN) earlier this month. The bill currently has 188 cosponsors (112 Democrats and 76 Republicans). NASL encourages all members to voice support for H.R. 807 by visiting NASL’s Advocacy Center to send a letter to their respective representatives. NASL is still accepting patient therapy cap stories for the Therapy Cap Coalition. Click here to send us your story.
