Committees Leadership
A list of our committees is presented below:

  • Awards and Recognition Committee
    The Awards Committee is responsible for selecting recipients of the Service Award and the Exemplary practices Award.
  • Convention Advisory/Site Selection
  • Diversity Committee
    Recruit diverse members to NREA, teach about multiculturalism, serve as a resource, lead a panel discussion at the annual meeting,and encourage researchers to turn in manuscripts on multiculturalism.
  • Editorial Advisory Board
    The Editorial Advisory Board is charged with the responsibility of recommending appropriate activities to promote The Rural Educator
  • Executive Committee
    The Executive Committee shall consist of the President, the President-Elect, the President-Elect Designate, the Immediate Past President and one (1) representative from the intermediate educational service agencies, the higher education institutions, the rural school administrators, the rural school teachers, the rural school board members, the state education agencies, the state affiliate organizations, and the members-at large.
  • Legislative Committee
    The legislative committee is responsible for coordinating the development of all officially adopted Legislative resolutions.
  • Nominations and Elections
    The nominations committe shall notify the membership the appropriate time for nominations and prepare nominations for officers and the executive committee.
  • NREA Foundation Board of Trustees
    The board oversees the activities of the NREA foundation.
  • Partners
    Assists the NREA in expanding and the search for corporate support to include those enterprises in rural America.
  • Procedures, Bylaws, and Resolutions
    The committee proposes, reviews changes to policies and bylaws. The committee ensures proposed declarations and resolutions conform to the NREA bylaws.
  • Research/Higher Education
    The committee recommends topics for research studies, select the winners of the Edward W. Chance and Stanley Brzezinski awards, planning and conducting the research symposium,
  • Rural Teacher of theYear Selection Committee
    The committee solicits potential candiates, monitor state selection programs,review applications, and select the rural teacher of the year.
  • Teacher Activities
    The committee recomends activities that can be worked into the convention program, select the essay contest winners, screen the minigrant applications, and provide recommendations fo rrecruiting teacher members.
  • Technology/Telecommunications Committee
    The committee assist the NREA in demostrating leadership in technology capacity building, enhance outreach through external and internal communication, support the efforts of other committees,and help increase overall organization efficiency.

    The committee supervises the association finances
