DESCRIPTION:
Supervising Remote Instruction is a 30-hour PIL and includes 10 hours of online lessons and 20 hours of job embedded assignments. It will focus on three aspects of teaching and learning. (1) Administrators will recognize and implement the key components of best practices in supervision to empower teachers and to share successful practices for online learning. (2) Administrators will help teachers to improve online learning using a variety of research-based strategies, including effective use of formative assessment and implementing a daily routine that builds opportunities for active student engagement, collaboration, and feedback. (3) Administrators will help teachers assess the effectiveness of their online instruction and use of formative assessment and will further empower teachers to use action research to create long-lasting improvements in their delivery by focusing on student learning.
In the culminating project, participants will assess their own learning about effective teacher supervision learned in Module 1, the use of formative assessment in remote instruction. Module 2, and their understanding of action research from Module 3, to create a narrative summary and evaluation.
