Leading Together: A Guided Discussion Series for Board Chairs and Executive Directors
First Friday of Each Month November – February | 12:00 PM – 1:15 PM | Interactive Web Meeting
Presented by: John Bradley, Broadfield Insight
A four-part learning series designed for Board Chairpersons (both current and aspiring), Board Members, and Executive Directors who want to explore, in an ongoing conversation, how the chairperson’s role can improve their board’s effectiveness.
This unique offering provides board members and senior leaders the opportunity to learn from peers as well as reflect on the ideas and best practices offered by nonprofit thought leaders and researchers. Brief articles will be distributed before each session, and all participants will be encouraged to come prepared with questions, real-life situations, and a willingness to share candidly what has or has not been working for them. Each session will be guided by John Bradley (Broadfield Insight) and supported by PANO staff.
Registration will allow participation of up to two attendees from the same organization. While single participants are welcome, the participation of the Board Chairperson along with the Executive Director (or another board member) is strongly encouraged.
Session 1: Understanding the Chairperson’s Role within Your Organization (Friday, November 3)
Discussion will consider the roles and responsibilities of the board and its chairperson given the history and context of participants’ particular organizations.
Session 2: Defining & Achieving Success as a Board (Friday, December 1)
Exploration of best practices that the board can adopt to define, pursue, and monitor their success.
Session 3: Leading the Board (Friday, January 5)
Discussion will focus on habits of good leadership. We will consider how the Chair and the Executive Director can lead the organization together.
Session 4: Board Member Engagement & Meeting Facilitation (Friday, February 2)
Discussion of how to transform staid board meetings into dynamic, engaging, and productive interactions.
$200 PANO Members

All sessions will be held online, in a virtual learning space that will lend itself to face-to-face interaction, large group discussion, and small group breakout sessions. In order to allow for small group learning and lively discussion, registration will be limited to the first eight organizations with up to two representatives per agency, or up to 16 individuals. Those who wish to join the cohort but cannot make these dates or are not among the first eight organizations to register may be added to a waiting list by contacting Christina Baer at 717-839-6560 or email@example.com.
