CALL FOR AWARD NOMINATIONS - DEADLINE NOVEMBER 15

The Parking Association of the Virginias is pleased to announce its First Annual Awards Competition. The purpose of the awards is to recognize outstanding parking-related achievements for all front line employees and supervisors. The Virginias have several outstanding parking organizations and it is time to show our appreciation to all of the hard working men and women that make these organizations shine.

Eligibility

Any employee who works for a parking organization in the Virginias who is a front-line employee or supervisor who has consistently demonstrated superior customer service skills, professionalism, and leadership qualities is eligible for this awards program. Employees can work as cashiers, valet, maintenance, front desk, drivers, enforcement, custodial or other parking service position that interacts with the public on a daily basis.

Submittals and Judging

All entries should be submitted on the nomination form to Dawn Marti at dawncn@att.net  no later than November 15, 2016 to be considered eligible for the awards program. The nominations will be reviewed and judged by another state and regional association to ensure fairness and impartiality.  If you are interested please contact Dawn for an applications and guidelines.

Parking Operations Supervisor Duties:

  • Supervise the meter maintenance and revenue collections program and related employees
  • Analyze, predict, plan, and strategize for future parking needs in the City.
  • Conduct parking occupancy and usage studies and prepare resulting data to recommend operational changes.
  • Assist land-use planners with developing parking ratio requirements
  • Research and prepare studies regarding parking use policies for both on- and off-street operations
  • Develop and revise parking policies and procedures to maintain customer satisfaction and parking availability.
  • Maintain and analyze parking revenue/expense spreadsheets.
  • Respond to customer problems and/or complaints regarding parking in a timely, courteous manner.
  • Research and develop specifications for bids for parking equipment and related machinery systems
  • Research and respond to parking inquiries and concerns from the public.
  • Interface with the Town Center Advisory Board, the Resort Area Advisory Committee, the Police Department, and various stakeholders and ownership interests and attend  meetings as needed
  • Conduct parking facility operational and maintenance inspections.
  • Maintain City parking resources to maintain cleanliness and attractiveness to customers and maximize safety and security within budgetary constraints.
  • Monitor parking management contractors compliance with city policies: cash handling and customer service
  • Monitor the Parking Access and Revenue Control System functionality and use by customers and lessee’s.
  • Interface with vendors and ensure contract compliance.
  • Meet and communicate with staff in other City departments.
  • Oversee the garage capital maintenance program and work scheduling and keep detailed records of past work and warranty documentation as well as on-going facility condition.
  • Serve as a project manager on rehabilitation and replacement projects.
  • Oversee annual services for minor repairs in garages
  • Conduct site visits to review parking configuration change requests.
  • Recommend the selection of equipment and software for the City's parking facilities and operations.
  • Participate in special event planning to maximize parking availability, safety, and security while ensuring financial sustainability of the parking system.
  • Assist in administering parking system proactively to increase profits and minimize expenses in accord with market demand and best practices.
  • Assist with the parking enforcement program and citation appeals process in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Assist with oversight of any parking management firms and consultants

Scholarship Opportunities

The Parking Association of the Virginias has a continuing interest in supporting education and the educational opportunities of its members, their employees and dependents.  Accordingly, PAV has established a scholarship program to achieve the following goals:

  • Assist students with a demonstrated financial need to defray their college expenses
  • Recognize academically talented students and assist them in attending the institution of their choice
  • Provide financial aid to support the association’s commitment to advance educational opportunities
Application Procedures
  1. Applications are available by emailing Frank Kollsmansperger at frank@entryguardsystems.com 
  2. Applications and all related materials must be received between August 15 and November 1.
  3. Applicants may be required to appear before the Scholarship Committee for personal interview.
