Jorge R. Sobehart, Managing Director, Risk Modeling and Analytics, Head of Credit and Obligor Risk Analytics, Citi

Jorge R. Sobehart is a Managing Director, Head of Credit and Obligor Risk Analytics at Citi where he currently manages analytics for Risk Rating processes and Debt Rating Models, Stress Testing, CCAR, ICAAP, Credit Reserves, IFRS9 and CECL, and loss likelihood and loss severity approaches for Basel Regulatory Capital.  Previously he developed the firm’s wholesale frameworks for Credit Risk Capital, CCAR, Stress Testing, Credit Reserves, IFRS9 and CECL, and various credit risk approaches and early warning tools of credit deterioration.  During his career, he has published numerous technical articles and acted as reviewer in risk management, finance, physics, computation and mathematical modeling. Dr. Sobehart has advanced degrees in physics and postdoctoral experience at the US-Los Alamos National Laboratory.


Perry Beaumont, Ph.D., Lecturer, Columbia University

Perry Beaumont is a data scientist with multiple industry certifications and he is active in the financial services sector and academia. Perry is currently with AWS Cloud Computing and he is a Lecturer at Columbia University. He has led a number of high-profile insurance and banking initiatives over the arc of his 30-year professional career, including serving as the first Head of Data Science and Analytics at Distinguished Programs (an insurance firm), successfully launching a Fintech firm that was later acquired, and managing a multi-national division for AXA Insurance based in Paris, France with their asset management group. Perry is passionate about climate risk topics, and is the author of a climate risk blog in addition to having a substantial portion of his latest book (Business Case Studies in Applied Data Science) devoted to climate-related topics. 


Perry has authored several books on financial services while also being a speaker at a variety of industry events and conferences. He is the recipient of a U.S. patent related to statistical analysis, and his recent text entitled Digital Finance published by Routledge Press was nominated as Best Reference Business book.


Perry has been engaged for many years with a variety of programs dedicated to enriching opportunities for others, such as volunteering at The Foundation for Investor Education to teach finance and judge various entrepreneurship competitions in city public high school classrooms. He is also a mentor with Columbia University’s Entrepreneurship Center and he participates in shadow day programs for several universities that champion support for the advancement of women and minorities and the promotion of diversity, inclusion, and equity. He is passionate about ethical applications of data science and his views are featured in the documentary “Data Science Pioneers.”


Sam Tortora, Managing Director, Global Head of Investor Relations and Corporate Sustainability, BlackRock

Sam Tortora, Managing Director, is Global Head of Investor Relations and Corporate Sustainability for BlackRock. She is responsible for developing the firm's corporate external strategic messaging and managing relationships with the investment community, including institutional shareholders of BlackRock stock, prospective investors, research analysts and asset stewardship officers.


In her role in Corporate Sustainability, Sam is responsible for establishing and overseeing a cohesive vision, strategy and corporate reporting framework across the various sustainability efforts at BlackRock, as well as communicating those efforts to a wide range of BlackRock stakeholders.


Sam is a member of BlackRock's Operating Committee and ESG & Policy Steering Committee.


Prior to moving to her current role in 2019, Samantha was the Deputy Head of Investor Relations and spent 8 years on BlackRock's Investor Relations team. She began her career at BlackRock in 2009 as an investment strategist on the Scientific Active Equity team, where she was responsible for performance attribution, portfolio reviews and investment commentary for institutional Scientific Active Equity clients.


Samantha earned a BS degree in Applied Mathematics and a concentration in Operations Research from Columbia University's School of Engineering and Applied Science in 2009.




Michael Ferguson, Senior Director, Americas Analytical Manager for Sustainable Finance, S&P Global Ratings

Michael Ferguson is the Americas Analytical Manager for the Sustainable Finance group at S&P Global Ratings. He manages a team of 20 North American and LatAm Sustainable Finance Analysts. He has been involved in the development, roll-out, and updating of our ESG Evaluation, and is responsible for the inclusion of ESG risks into our credit ratings. He also supports our efforts on Sustainable Finance External Reviews and Opinions (SFEROs). He is responsible for developing the learning curriculum on ESG throughout S&P Global Ratings. Much of his thought leadership research revolves around environmental regulation and energy policy, especially in the United States.


Michael joined S&P Global Ratings in December 2011 and was in the North American Energy Infrastructure practice as a credit analyst for approximately seven years, covering project financings and power companies. Previously, he worked as a forensic accounting consultant with FTI Consulting in Washington, DC. He worked on a wide array of cases, ranging from stock option backdating and revenue recognition to embezzlement and ponzi schemes. Michael also worked in the Financial Services Assurance practice at Ernst & Young LLP; he audited hedge funds, insurers, and banks, as well as government agencies.


Michael graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 2005 with a bachelor of business administration degree in Finance and a bachelor of arts degree in Political Science. He also received an International Business Certificate. He received a master of science degree in Accountancy from the University of Virginia in 2006 and a master of business administration degree from Duke University in 2011. Michael is a Chartered Financial Analyst, a Certified Public Accountant, a Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst, and a Certified Fraud Examiner.
