This class introduces real estate professionals to the role of Accessory Dwelling Units (ADU's) in addressing the housing and affordability crisis in Washington State. 

This class addresses the legal requirements for ADU’s, the steps of the ADU approval process, and the costs and financial benefits of ADU’s. Two expert panels of municipal planning, design, building, lending, real estate and financial professionals will lend their expertise to the discussion.

Class overview:

Hour 1: Introduction to ADU's- PowerPoint and general terms; why understanding ADU's is important for all real estate agents (Brenda)

Hour 2: The process of putting one in place from design to permitting and finding experts to build

Hour 3: Financing options, cash flow analysis and appraisal strategies.

IMPORTANT! Attendance requirements: Live online course will be presented via ZOOM Meeting. The link to join the meeting will be sent in the confirmation email. Students will need a device with two-way video and audio capabilities and a (free) Zoom account. To verify attendance, students must keep their camera on for the duration of the course and respond to live polls. Clock hour credit will only be given to students with their camera on, who are present and visible on their camera during the course, and who participate in course polls/chat.
