The STN TOPIC course is taught to all members of the trauma system team who participate in the on-going assessment, evaluation and improvement of trauma care. The Society of Trauma Nurses has developed the " Trauma Outcomes and Performance Improvement Course" in response to the need for education and better understanding of the Performance Improvement process in trauma care. TOPIC focuses on the on-going assessment of the continuum of trauma care with a structured review of process and discussions of strategies to monitor trauma patient outcomes.

The TOPIC course is taught in a one day interactive Modular Format, customized to best meet the needs of the individual trauma care provider participants who have varying levels of experience with trauma performance improvement. The course offers practical application for all Levels of trauma centers, from entry level to mature phase of program development. The Modules are taught with a focus on didactic, operational definitions, sample tools, case study examples and take home points.

Directions to the Atlantic City Campus of AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center

From the north or south, take the Garden State Parkway to the Atlantic City Expressway.  Take the

Atlantic City Expressway into Atlantic City.


From the west, take the Atlantic City Expressway into Atlantic City.


The Atlantic City Expressway becomes Christopher Columbus Blvd, then turns into Missouri Avenue.  Continue approximately three blocks to Pacific Avenue.  Turn left on Pacific Avenue. Continue two block on Pacific Avenue to Michigan Avenue.  Turn left on Michigan Avenue; stay in the left lane.


Parking is located in Caesars Parking Garage across from the hospital off Michigan Avenue. Parking validation will be provided.


Valet parking is available at the main entrance of the hospital on Michigan Ave (at the individual's expense).


If overnight accommodations are needed, the three closest hotels, Bally's, Caesars and Trump

Plaza, are within one block of the hospital.


You can compare rates of several Atlantic City hotels at http://www.acrooms.com. Broomall Conference Room is located on the 2nd floor of the City Campus hospital.

From the 3rd  floor of Caesers Parking Garage, take the enclosed walkway to the Hospital, obtain a guest pass at the receptionist's desk, then follow the signs to the course.


From the main entrance on the ground floor, obtain a gest pass at the Security Desk, take the stairs or elevator in the Harmony Pavilion to the 2nd floor, then follow the signs to the course.


Course participants will receive a copy of the TOPIC Manual upon check in at the course.

Registration includes a continental breakfast, breaks and lunch.


This continuing nursing education activity was approved by the Georgia Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission On Accreditation, for 8.0 contact hours.

Substitutions may be made at any time without an additional charge. Refunds will be issued for all cancellations received at least two weeks prior to the start of the course. Cancellations received less than two weeks before the course may be considered for transfer/credit towards another course. A $50 administrative fee will be charged for all refunds. "No shows" are subject to the full conference fee. Cancellations/substitutions must be made in writing. No refunds or credits will be issued once the course has started. The course is subject to change and/or cancellation.
