Mission Statement: The Appraisal Foundation is dedicated to promoting professionalism and ensuring public trust in the valuation profession. This is accomplished through the promulgation of standards, appraiser qualifications, and guidance regarding valuation methods and techniques.

Board of Trustees
The Appraisal Foundation is governed by a Board of Trustees, which is charged with:
providing financial support for the work of the Foundation’s three independent Boards: the Appraisal Practices Board (APB), the Appraiser Qualifications Board (AQB) and the Appraisal Standards Board (ASB);
appointing members to the Foundation’s three independent Boards; and,
oversight of the activities of the Foundation’s Boards and Advisory Councils.
Appraisal Practices Board (APB)
The APB offers voluntary guidance to appraisers, regulators and users of appraisal services on recognized valuation methods and techniques for all valuation disciplines.
Appraisal Standards Board (ASB)
The ASB develops, interprets and amends the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP), the generally accepted standards of the appraisal profession.
Appraiser Qualifications Board (AQB)
The AQB establishes the minimum education, experience and examination requirements for real property appraisers to obtain a state license or certification. In addition, the AQB performs a number of ancillary duties related to real property and personal property appraiser qualifications.
