Program Highlights

Harbor Bridge Tour—Corpus Christi's skyline is in the early stages of a metamorphosis. That’s because the iconic Harbor Bridge, a roadway that is a distinct feature of the sparking city by the sea’s landscape, is undergoing a major upgrade. The completed Harbor Bridge will be the tallest point in South Texas and the longest cable stay bridge in the United States. The new design incorporates a number of aesthetic features including a shared-use path, a community plaza, nighttime LED lighting, and xeriscape landscaping. In all, the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) project includes design and construction of just over six miles of bridge and connecting roadway. Limited availability...first-come, first-served.

CRCP in Texas—Andy Naranjo

Andy is currently the Rigid Pavements and Concrete Materials Branch Manager of the Construction Division of TxDOT, and oversees concrete pavement construction, as well as provides statewide support for concrete material related issues. Andy will discuss CRCP (Concrete Reinforced Concrete Pavements) usage in the State of Texas.  The discussion will include:

TX DOT history with CRCP: common misconceptions; unknown benefits; cost - initial/life cycle; maintenance requirements - preventative and unplanned; design - best practices/lessons learned; construction - best practices, sub grade issues, mix design, qa/qc; performance - ride quality/surfacing; rebar issues - material specs, coatings, placement; hurdles with adoption by other states/other states practices; upcoming/ongoing work in Texas with CRCP.

Deep Sea Fishing

Going deep sea fishing is the perfect way to relax or feel the thrill of catching a monster fish. Not only do you get to go out on the open ocean and enjoy the sites but you never know what might be on the end of that line...the beauty of going on a fishing charter is that you never know what might happen. Excitement is almost certain and memories are created that you and the rest of your fishing crew will not soon forget.

This event is included in the registration fee.

Lunch Cruise at Harrison's Landing

Nowhere else in Corpus Christi can you sail, shop and dine all in the same shaded waterfront location. At Harrison’s Landing you will find a variety of activities suitable for locals and visitors alike.

We will start out having lunch  at Tavern on the Bay. It’s a Corpus Christi gem that offers a unique dining experience. Located in the heart of the Corpus Christi marina, the Tavern is the only place in town that has a floating gift shop, and floating bar and dining areas.

Then we will cruise on the Texas Tease, a 74′ double deck party boat, for a unique way to enjoy Corpus Christi Bay – from the water’s perspective. It’s always cooler on the water, the sounds of the sea and birds are always so relaxing, the soft rock and roll of boat from the water action melt away the tensions of life. And, we may luck out and see pelicans, sea birds, turtles and dolphin along the way.

The cruise fee is $175 per person, which includes a
private boat for 2 hours, lunch and drinks.
