Titanium and its alloys have been a reliable bioimplant material for decades. There is a certain segment of the population that believes no metal should be used in dentistry. This presentation will highlight the mechanisms by which titanium and its alloys can be toxic and discuss alternative materials.

Learning Objectives:  At completion of this presentation, participants should be able to:

1. Recognize potential mechanisms for metals becoming toxic
