Speaker Information

Instructor:  Stacey D. Hardy-Chandler, PhD, JD, LCSW

Dr. Stacey D. Hardy-Chandler combines her background/training in social work (M.S.W., 1988), clinical psychology (Ph.D., 1994), law (J.D., 2006) to promote transformative experiential learning, cultural humility, leadership and organizational development. She launched her career in southern California where she provided an array of mental health services in both inpatient and outpatient psychiatric settings working with diverse client populations ranging from children to older adults.

She served as the Director of Field Education for the University of Nevada, Las Vegas School of Social Work for nearly 13 years.  In 2011, she joined the faculty at George Mason University and later transitioned to Fairfax County.  She is a past-president of the National Organization of Forensic Social Work and currently serves on the NOFSW Executive Board as well as on the Executive Advisory Council of the National Staff Development and Training Association (an affiliate of the American Public Human Services Association).

Recognizing the need for “leadership done our way - informed by social work values and principles”, Dr. Hardy-Chandler created the RDL curriculum in partnership with NASW-VA.  Her diverse career journey, commitment to service and growth-oriented philosophy converge perfectly in her current role as the Director of Professional and Organization for the Fairfax Department of Family Services leading agency-wide strategic initiatives and learning opportunities for a workforce of over 1900 staff. Her self-prescribed job description is simple: “to cultivate a culture of learning”.
