The keynote address will be delivered by Dr. R. David Lankes, Director of the University of South Carolina’s School of Library and Information Science and the 2016-2017 Follett Chair at Dominican University’s School of Information Studies. The meeting will be held at the Nova Southeastern University Oceanographic Campus Library, located in Dania Beach, FL.

Hosted at Palm Beach Atlantic University, the Association of College & Research Libraries will be presenting a workshop entitled "Assessing and Communicating Library Contributions to Student Learning and Success" to SEFLIN members interested in assessment and accountability issues in academic libraries. In this full-day workshop on strategic and sustainable assessment, participants will identify institutional priorities and campus partners, design an assessment project grounded in action research, and prepare a plan for communicating the project results. 2017 SEFLIN regional conference logo, 'Libraries, the New Town Hall' The 2017 SEFLIN Regional Conference will be held at the Kovens Conference Center in Miami, FL on Thursday, July 27, 2017. This year’s theme is Libraries: The New Town Hall. Registration will open in early May.
The keynote, Diamonds in the Rough: Polishing our Practices for Prepared and Newly Passionate Library Users will be delivered by Kaetrena Davis Kendrick, MSLS. Ms. Kendrick is a graduate of the historic Clark Atlanta University School of Library and Information Studies. Currently, she is Assistant Librarian and Assistant Professor at the University of South Carolina Lancaster.



Regional Conference Call for Lightning Rounds and Poster Sessions

Share your great program or new innovative resource with your SEFLIN colleagues at this year's Regional Conference. The Planning Committee seeks proposals for lightning rounds and poster sessions for the 2017 Regional Conference.

  • Lightning Rounds are presented in a 5-7 minute time limited presentation. Each presenter will give a quick slide presentation and be available for questions.
  • Poster Sessions are delivered through an informal presentation of a graphic poster that details and summarizes the project.
The deadline for completing the proposal form is April 17, 2017. Presenters will be notified of acceptance by April 21, 2017 and will sign a Letter of Agreement to present. Presenters will receive complimentary registration for the conference. Registration will open on or about May 1, 2017. If selected, applicants will be sent instructions on how to register as a presenter. Presenters may be requested to repeat their session at two of the three breakout sessions.

Dr. R. David Lankes, Director of the University of South Carolina’s School of Library and Information Science and the 2016-2017 Follett Chair at Dominican University’s School of Information Studies will be presenting a half-day workshop entitled "Reaching Beyond the Usual Suspects" Thursday, May 18th and presenting a redux of that same talk as the Keynote speaker of the SEFLIN May Membership meeting on May 19th.
