About the Speaker

 

Joseph Patrick O'Brien, Esquire

Mr. O'Brien is the managing partner of the Media law firm, KAO Law Associates and Pennsylvania Real Estate Tax Appeal LLC.  His practice concentrates in real estate tax assessment litigation, income and estate taxation and planning, real estate transactions and commercial business transactions. He has litigated real estate tax assessments in a majority of Pennsylvania's Counties.  Mr. O'Brien was admitted to the Pennsylvania Bar in 1968 and to practice before the United States Supreme Court in 1975.  He is a member of the Delaware County Bar Association (Chair, Accounting and Law Committee, 2001-present), Pennsylvania Bar Association (Unauthorized Practice of Law Committee, Co-Chair 1999-present;  Advertising and Technology Committees; Commission on Multidisciplinary Practice), Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accounts, Institute of Professionals in Taxation and the American Academy of Attorneys/CPA's Inc. Mr. O'Brien is a regular speaker at the Pennsylvania Bar Institute (PBI) Annual Ethics Potpourri on Unauthorized Practice of Law and has also presented on Real Estate Tax Assessment in Pennsylvania before the PBI and many other professional and business groups.  Mr. O'Brien was an Adjunct Professor of Law in Paralegal Studies at Widener University from 1974-87; and Founder (1980) and President of the Delaware County Attorney/CPA Forum from 1980-84; member, 1980-present. He received both is B.S. in Economics (1965) and Juris Doctor (J.D.) (1968) from Villanova University and his L.L.M. in Taxation from Temple University in 1975.

AAA-CPA continuing education programs are designed to meet the needs of Attorneys and CPAs and to qualify for credit both as CPE and (M)CLE. Of course, the decisions of various state authorities determine the actual credit granted. Prerequisites: None. Advanced Preparation: None. Program Level: Overview. Delivery Method: Group-Live.

The American Academy of Attorney-Certified Public Accountants, Inc. (AAA-CPA) is registered with the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) as a sponsor of continuing professional education on the National Registry of CPE Sponsors. State boards of accountancy have final authority on the acceptance of individual courses for CPE credit.
