Program Description & Learning Objectives

Here are some of the blockbusters included in the proposed new tax law.

  • It caps the combined income tax rates of businesses and business-owners for all C corporations and their shareholders at 36.8 percent; and for most pass-through personal service businesses at 37 percent.
  • It caps pass-through business income tax rates at 29.6 percent for real estate businesses, manufacturers, engineering firms and architectural firms.
  • It caps the deductions for business interest; reduces the cap on mortgage interest on principal residences; and eliminates the deduction for home equity interest.

It eliminates the estate tax for all but the largest estates.

You will learn how the proposed new tax law might affect your clients.

  • The new C corporation tax rate of 21 percent will apply to all personal-service business income, an important change from existing law. Should your clients reorganize their personal service pass-through entities as C corporations to take advantage of new, low

C corporation tax rate on personal-service income?

  • How might the reduced interest deduction cap on new mortgages affect the fair market value of your clients' homes?
  • How might the virtual elimination of the estate tax affect your clients' estate plans?

We will also review many other "nuts and bolts" of the new tax law.
