Quarantines and travel bans from the recent COVID-19 pandemic may affect your intended change of domicile plans, forcing you to spend more time in NYS. These unintended days in NYS may alter your tax planning efforts to avoid tax exposure in NYS. Learn the nuts and bolts of an NYS tax residency audit. Attorneys, Karen Tenenbaum, and Marisa Friedrich will discuss the rules as well as the nuances for establishing a domicile, and will examine the criteria used to determine NYS statutory residency.

Karen J. Tenebaum, Esq., LL.M, CPA
An attorney for over 35 years, Karen founded Tenenbaum Law, P.C., which helps individual
s and businesses facing IRS and New York State tax problems. Karen is a frequent speaker on IRS
and NYS tax issues for numerous professional groups on topics such as New York State
residency, IRS and NYS collections, and more. She speaks at the NYU Tax Controversy Forum, Long Island Tax Symposium,
LIU Post Civil and Criminal Tax Controversy and NYSSCPA, Nassau and Suffolk All Day Tax Conferences.
Karen received her LL.M. (Taxation) from New York University School of Law and her J.D. from Brooklyn Law School. Karen is

Marisa M. Friedrich, Esq.
Marisa is an associate at the law firm of Tenenbaum Law, P.C. and is licensed to practice
law in New York. She concentrates on resolving Federal and New York State tax controversies, including i
ssues involving income tax, residency audits, responsible person assessments, and tax collections.
Marisa is a frequent speaker on tax issues including New York State residency and Internal Revenue State Offers in Compromise. Marisa earned her J.D. at Hofstra University School of Law. She was a Managing Editor of Articles for the Hofstra Labor & Employment Law Journal.

Eliot Lebenhart, CPA
With more than 40 years of industry experience,
Eliot is a Certified Public Accountant
wh0 graduated from the State University of New York at Binghamton in 1975.
Prior to
starting his own fir
m he strategically gained employment with
CPA firms that lead to specialized experience in providing tax
services to the entertainment and sports world. In 1983 he started his own firm, focusing his practice and developing extensive knowledge in the fashion modeling, entertainment and sports related fields where he was able to develop a highly diversified clientele.
Eliot Lebenhart is currently active in the New York State Society
of CPAs Nassau Chapter (NYSSCPA-Nassau), where he co-chairs
the Small Firm Management of an Accounting Practice
Committee and the Practice Continuation Committee, and he
