David W. Miller  

David Miller received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Political Science from Vanderbilt University. He received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Houston Law Center, where he was a Lex Award recipient. As an associate attorney of Shepherd Smith Edwards & Kantas LTD LLP, Mr. Miller maintains an active securities arbitration and litigation practice.  Mr. Miller has successfully litigated securities cases on behalf of individual investors, high net worth and institutional investors, regional banking institutions and corporate issuers of debt securities. His litigation experience includes disputes regarding individual securities, Ponzi schemes, debt issuances, and interest rate swaps.  Additionally, Mr. Miller has represented registered representatives in employment disputes.

Prior to beginning his law practice, Mr. Miller served as an officer in the corporate trust and investment banking groups at major financial institutions. During his career in the financial industry, he had extensive experience with exotic financial instruments while acting as an indenture trustee for collateralized debt obligations and mortgage backed securities. He has also worked with a major oil and gas corporation negotiating complex derivative contracts.

 

CONTINUING EDUCATION INFORMATION

AAA-CPA continuing education programs are designed to meet the needs of Attorneys and CPAs and to qualify for credit both as CPE and CLE. Of course, the decisions of various state authorities determine the actual credit granted. There are no prerequisites or advance preparation requirements for this course.

Accounting CPE/Legal CLE/MCLE

The American Association of Attorney-CPAsis registered with the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) as a sponsor of continuing professional education on the National Registry of CPE Sponsors. State boards of accountancy have final authority on the acceptance of individual courses for CPE credit. Complaints regarding registered sponsors may be submitted to the National Registry of CPE Sponsors through its  website www.learningmarket.org. A brochure with full details of the program is available from the association at 888-288-9272. These programs meet the NASBA standards of 1 (50 minute) hour of instruction.  If you require CLE in a state not mentioned, please call our national office and we will do our best to arrange for credit in your state.
