Program Description

Join the AAA-CPA and Julie Kinkopf of Weber Gallagher Simpson Stapleton Fires & Newby, LLP on May 18th in an informative discussion of Employment Law: What You Need to Know to Protect Yourself and Your Clients.  Julie will provide us with an overview of the main laws that govern the employer-employee relationship, including the wage and hour and anti-discrimination laws.  She will also identify some of the top mistakes that employers make and how to avoid them.  Julie will also address the changing nature of the law as it relates to independent contractor vs. employee classification and potential joint employer liability in various settings (including franchises and staffing agencies).  With lawsuits and agency claims increasing every year, this is a must attend event for anyone who has employees or counsels employers.

About the Speaker

Julie Kinkopf is a Partner in Weber Gallagher's Employment Group. Julie is a former General Counsel who has extensive experience representing companies in employment and general litigation matters, defending public and private employers in all areas of employment law and advising managers and business owners.  She counsels clients in employment law including hiring, discipline, termination, leave management, wage and hour disputes, discrimination and retaliation issues, reductions in force and enforcement of non-competition agreements.  She also drafted and reviewed employee handbooks, personnel forms, employment contracts and severance agreements.  She has represented clients in government audits and investigations.  A frequent lecturer and author, her articles have appeared in the Legal Intelligencer and HR Insights magazine.  She has given presentations before numerous organizations including the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) Pennsylvania State Conference, Pennsylvania Bar Institute's Employment Law Institute, the Delaware County Chamber of Commerce, the Tri-State Human Resources Association, the Greater Valley Forge Human Resources Association, the Delaware County Human Resources Association and the National Association of CPA Practitioners.  Please see her employment blog at: www.wgemploymentlawblog.com.  Julie may be reached at jkinkopf@wglaw.com.
